Brief Action Planning Workshop

The Brief Action Planning workshop provides health care providers with three highly structured, patient-centered, evidence informed self-management support tools grounded in the principles and practice of Motivational Interviewing: Give No Advice, Ask-Tell-Ask, and Brief Action Planning.

Give No Advice – A tool that can be used to develop engagement, to practice listening and allow our clients to reflect on their own motivations to change.

Ask-Tell-Ask – A client-centered approach to sharing information that ensures relevance and specificity of the content.

Brief Action Planning – A structured way of having a conversation with someone who is interested in turning their hopes for healthy behaviors into concrete plans.

Workshop Details: 
- No cost to attend
- Lunch and refreshments are provided
- Learn an efficient model to facilitate patient goal setting and action planning that can be completed within 5-10 minutes
- Receive follow up telephone coaching by a skilled facilitator to develop competency
- Participants are required to participate in at least 1 practice call after the workshop in order to receive a certificate

The workshop was developed by the Centre for Collaboration, Motivation and Innovation and is coordinated by the North Simcoe Muskoka Self-Management Program
